ENROLL NOW

A comprehensive 8-module professional certificate course that helps speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other pediatric therapists understand and support neurodivergent children through evidence supported sensory strategies.

Transform how you support neurodivergent children by understanding the sensory roots behind behavior and regulation.

Many pediatric therapists find themselves:

  • Feeling stuck when progress plateaus despite intentional planning

  • Spending excessive time managing behaviors rather than moving toward goals

  • Working with children whose sensory needs undermine regulation, attention, and participation, and not always sure how to support that in the therapy room

  • Wishing they had practical tools and templates instead of one-off ideas or trial-and-error

This course is built for you.

The busy speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, or behavior analyst who wants to shift from “managing” to “understanding and guiding” sensory-driven behaviors.

What’s unique about the OutGrow Approach?

Other sensory courses are built from a single perspective: speech, OT, or behavior. OutGrow is different. Created by a COTA, SLP, and BCBA, Making Sense of Sensory: Therapist Edition combines the strengths of all three disciplines into one unified, whole-child approach. Instead of solely addressing sensory processing, communication, or behavior in isolation, OutGrow connects them. The result is a deeper understanding of why behaviors happen and practical, evidence supported strategies that actually stick across settings.

Each module contains mini lessons and a quiz to test your understanding.

Module 1

Introduction

This opening module introduces your instructors, the research, and the foundation for a more meaningful, sensory-informed practice.

Module 2

Sensory Processing and Systems: Foundations Every Pediatric Therapist Should Master

Build the foundation for sensory-informed practice. Explore major sensory systems and learn the basics of sensory processing to see how input drives behavior and regulation.

Module 3

The Pattern Decoder: From Clinical Confusion to Confident Observation

Learn how to identify sensory-seeking and sensory-avoiding patterns with clinical clarity so you can move beyond trial-and-error strategies and start designing supports that actually stick.

Module 4

Thresholds and Tipping Points: Understand Reactivity, Overwhelm, and Regulation at the Nervous System Level

Get clear on how sensory thresholds show up in your sessions and how they directly impact the behaviors that stall therapeutic progress.

Module 5

The Modulation Equation: Help Kids Respond, Not React, to Their Environment

Explore sensory modulation through a functional lens and learn what your clients/patients need to reach and stay in their optimal learning zone throughout your sessions.

Module 6

The Arousal Curve: Map it. Spot it. Shift it.

Use the arousal curve to identify when your client is under-aroused, overstimulated, or ready to engage, then learn how to guide them back into a regulated state so learning is optimized.

Module 7

Putting Sensory Into Practice: Therapeutic Flow, Goals, and Scripts for the Sensory Informed Therapist

Learn to design sensory-friendly sessions, write child-centered goals, and document dysregulation with clinical integrity, clarity, and compassion for neurodiversity-affirming therapy.

Module 8

Wrap Up — Tools & Application

The final module provides additional workbook tools and continued learning options, helping therapists apply sensory strategies and strengthen their therapeutic approach.

What You’ll Master

Clear, measurable outcomes that transform how you understand and support every child.

BY THE END OF THIS COURSE, PARTICIPANTS WILL UNDERSTAND:

Pattern Recognition

  • Define and differentiate sensory-seeking and sensory-avoiding behaviors within the framework of sensory processing.

  • Analyze observable behaviors to determine which sensory system(s) are being engaged.

Root Cause Analysis

  • Explain how unmet or excessive sensory needs contribute to behaviors that interfere with learning, social interaction, and overall well-being.

  • Differentiate between sensory tools (supports designed to meet regulation needs) and toys (items used primarily for play or entertainment).

Clinical Understanding

  • Identify specific indicators of sensory processing challenges and explain their impact on self-regulation, attention, and functional participation.

  • Identify and describe the primary sensory systems most directly involved in shaping behavior and regulation.

Practical Application

  • Select and justify effective sensory supports and intervention strategies that align with a child's identified sensory needs.

  • Apply foundational knowledge of sensory processing to design interventions that facilitate regulation, enhance attention, and improve adaptive responses to sensory input.

The Result?

You'll move from guessing to knowing, from managing behaviors to understanding root causes, and from quick fixes to lasting solutions that truly serve each child and family.

What Educators and Therapists are Saying:

Join hundreds of professionals who've transformed their practice with these proven strategies.

"Martie and Megan are absolutely wonderful!! We were able to understand sensory processing and how kids can better learn or how we can better support them in their learning.  Teaching kids emotional regulation is a big struggle for any parent or teacher. They laid out the logistics perfectly and we were able to understand a child’s perspective."

- Teacher, Premier Academy Orlando

"Martie and Megan’s knowledge and passion really shine through. The workshop was incredibly informative. I am walking away with new techniques and practice ideas as a teacher and parent. Thank you!"

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • This course was designed for pediatric therapists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, BCBAs, and others—especially those who work with neurodivergent kids. If you’re a parent or educator, stay tuned! We have resources created just for you launching in 2026.

  • Plan for about four hours total. Every video lesson is under eight minutes, so it’s easy to fit into your day. You can complete the course all at once or spread it out over time, whatever works best for you.

  • You’ll have lifetime access to the modules and any future updates we make. If you choose the coaching option, the live calls run for six months, and you’ll also get access to the call recordings during that time.

  • Absolutely. Sensory processing doesn’t go away after childhood, it’s something we all experience, every day. The strategies you’ll learn apply across ages, settings, and even for yourself (you’ll walk away knowing a lot more about your own sensory profile too!).

  • We can’t promise every session will be a breeze, but yes, once you start looking at behavior through a sensory lens, things often feel less stressful for both you and your clients. You’ll be equipped with strategies that reduce overwhelm, support regulation, and build more trusting, supported relationships. And that shift makes therapy feel more effective and more enjoyable.

  • We offer two options: one that is fully self-paced, and one that includes live monthly coaching calls with Martie and Megan. You can choose whichever option best fits your learning style and needs.

When are the live monthly calls?

Live calls are held on the 2nd Monday of every month from 11–12 Central. If you can’t make it live, no worries, a recording will be sent to you afterward. You’re also welcome to email your questions ahead of time and we’ll be sure to address them on the call.

  • Nope! Everything we teach is designed to work in the environments you’re already in, therapy rooms, classrooms, or homes. You don’t need a sensory gym or expensive tools. The strategies are practical and ready to use with what you already have.

  • When you complete the course and pass the final quiz, you’ll receive a Making Sense of Sensory Certificate of Completion.

The course qualifies for four Professional Development Hours (PDHs). While we are not accredited through any licensing board, many professionals are able to apply these hours toward their requirements. We recommend checking with your own board or regulatory body for confirmation.

  • Yes! You can pay in full, or spread your payments out over 6 months.

Start Seeing Change Today

Many existing sensory trainings focus on one lens: speech, OT or behavior. We bring them together, shifting from isolated concepts to an integrated, whole-child model. You will finally see how sensory systems, communication and behavior intersect and learn how to intervene effectively in your therapy room, across settings, and in collaboration with families and schools. We hope to see you on the inside!
